Basement Phase 2 & 3

We (okay, I) saw a picture of a stone fireplace in a DIY magazine and thought it would be SO easy to do.  Why do they do that?  We drove up to Wisconsin on a Friday to get this stone from a one-man stone veneer manufacturing plant (we saved a ton of money this way) and planned to complete the wall on Saturday.  Well, if you will notice in this first picture it's daylight and in the second, pitch black.  I finally quit at 9pm, resolved to get help!  It was actually a great experience and brought me a whole new appreciation for masonry.  Back in the day when I would play Tetris, I would close my eyes at night and would see little Tetris pieces and would place them where they fit.  After putting this rock puzzle together (as far as I did) I did the same thing at night!
Family room

Family/playroom looking into bar/parlor area

Workout room.  Steve and I debated heavily on what color to paint this room.  I thought it should be red - energizing and motivating, right?  Steve insisted blue would be a better choice because it's soothing and would encourage one to stay longer.  Personal preferences aside, we googled "what color to paint our workout room?" and tallied the results.  The winner? Orange!

Theater room.  We had this half wall removed, thanks to the advise of my VT's!

So now I can appreciate the work that went into your basement! My first time at your house I got to see it unfinished, and then my second, it was finished! And I thought, wow, that was fast and painless! But really I know it maust have been lots of blood sweat and tears. Did you do the painting yourself??? I just love your home. The colors you chose especially from the workout room to your craft room to the ice cream parlor. It all is so fabulous!

Oh Cammie!!! Where oh where to begin! I can't believe how good it is to see you guys, even if it is on a blog. I love the house! I am so green with craft room, workout room, ice cream parlor, BASEMENT envy! And the girls! And the pictures are incredible, though Steve does look like he isn't really enjoying the modeling thing all that much. :) I absolutely love the picture of him kissing the top of your head. You look beautiful!!! The pictures are all wonderful and definitely worthy of a holiday card. I miss you!!! I hope your new friends all know how lucky they are to have you. It is simply not the same without you!!!

Cammie, Hooray! I found you (through Heather's blog) I can't believe how grown up your darling girls are. That is crazy! You still look like Jennifer Garner:)--Beautiful, as ever. I love the pictures of your girls' first day of school. I swear Riley's backpack is bigger than her. T wants an American Doll for Christmas. (She and A are each getting a New Generation doll from Target to see if they actually interact and play with them. If they do, we'll go from there.) How fun you get to actually GO TO THE STORE! It's good to see what you are up to. I love the orange exercise room:)

I'm an idiot--this is Jen Robertson. I loved that you found me (my blog) through Heather. We have missed you and your family. Our ward has changed--still good, but changed.

ahhh, home projects... you gotta love 'em! Ours never seem to turn out exactly how we had intended them to and they always take longer then we think they will! It's fun to see the transformation though (even if you get help in the end ;) hehe)

I love that you googled what color to paint your workout room! Maybe I need to do that with my kitchen so I can stop looking at the blah walls in there....

I hope you guys are settling into your new city, looks like things are going good!

Happy Thanksgiving!
